Your Weekend Beauty Tip

Most of us don’t have time during the week to take care of our luscious locks.  Some of us don’t have the luxury of going to beauty salons. So, here’s a little beauty DIY I tried and want to share with you so you can try it out this weekend.  Many people color their hair in the summer which can lead to dry or damaged hair. So, for those who do put their hair through some harsh chemicals in the name of beauty, this treatment is a must to hydrate and restore your lovely strands. All you need is your favorite hair conditioner, and pure extra virgin coconut oil.

The following quantities  are based on shoulder length hair so you may need more or less oil or treatment depending on how long or short your hair is.

Directions – On damp 1 tbsp of pure extra virgin coconut oil, 1 tbsp of your favorite hair conditioner (my favorite is nuNAAT Keratin conditioner, all natural, plant and soy based!), mixed them well, apply generously to your hair (using your hands is fine), and put your shower cap on for 20 min – no heat required.

While you’re waiting, you’ll have 20 min to do your nails, read the latest People magazine, or make a dent in your at-capacity DVR memory.  Then rinse well with warm water, and style.

Alternatively, if you have more time, you may deep condition your locks by omitting the conditioner and just applying pure virgin coconut oil by itself for 1 to 2 hours before washing your hair. You’ll have enough time to read few more chapters of 50 Shades of Grey!

Coconut oil can also be used in your daily routine as a defrizzer, giving your hair a glossy look and great scent at the same time.  The gloss will last about two days.  I’ve tried this deep conditioning once a week, and I love it!  I hope you’ll love it too!

Very nice article. Always a pleasure to find more ways of using virgin coconut oil for beauty. We are bulk producers of virgin coconut oil from Indonesia. Thanks for sharing this. With love – from Java.. 🙂
